The first unit of the poultry farm with a production capacity of 25 thousand tons of meat per year was commissioned in Bulandy district of Akmola region. The solemn ceremony of the farm launch took place in the city of Makinsk. Over 50% of the required investments in the project worth of 33.5 billion KZT were provided by the subsidiaries of “Baiterek” Holding - Development Bank of Kazakhstan and “Kazyna Capital Management”.
The rest of the funding was provided by the initiator of the project “Aitas KZ” JSC and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The total cost of Makinsk poultry farm construction, including the second unit, is 45.6 billion KZT.
The project started to be funded by DBK and KCM in 2017 in the framework of “Baiterek” Holding program “Leaders of competitiveness - National champions”. DBK provided a loan for a period of up to 10 years in the amount of 16.1 billion KZT, KCM invested 9 million USD by entering into capital through its subsidiary “Baiterek Venture Fund” JSC. The financing provided is the largest investment in the entire history of the poultry industry in Kazakhstan.
The first unit of Makinsk poultry farm includes nine production sites, as well as: hatcher, four broiler houses each per twelve poultry houses, poultry processing plant, compost line, auxiliary site and feed production workshop. The hatcher, where the first egg was put, has already started to work. The remaining sites of the first unit of the farm will be put into operation gradually by the end of the current year.
After commissioning of the second unit of the same capacity, scheduled for the second half of 2020, Makinsk poultry farm will become the largest in Central Asia in terms of chicken meat production, with a processing capacity of up to 9,000 broilers per hour.
The main product that the factory will produce is chilled broiler meat. After the commissioning of the second unit, the capacity of the enterprise will allow satisfying up to 15% of the domestic market demand for poultry meat in Kazakhstan, which, in turn, reduce the share of product import up to 32.6% from the current 50.4%.
Makin poultry farm is focused on the markets of Astana, Akmola, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay and Karaganda regions, where it is planned to sell up to 60% of the chicken meat produced.
The total area of all buildings that will be located on the territory of the poultry farm is more than 227 thousand square meters. In order to comply with the requirements of biosafety and environmental friendliness of production, the enterprise will use high-tech energy-saving equipment at the stages of hatching production, slaughter of poultry and production of meat and bone meal.
