Baiterek Holding secures key agreements with German partners

On September 16, Astana hosted a Kazakh-German roundtable led by First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar. The event brought together Baiterek Holding’s management, key industry ministry representatives, and Kazakhstani business leaders to explore avenues for collaboration.

The roundtable coincided with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz's official visit to Kazakhstan, during which 30 agreements were signed, totaling over USD 6.1 billion. Among the key agreements is a partnership with Horsch Maschinen GmbH focused on producing and selling agricultural machinery, including seeding complexes and soil cultivation systems. Additionally, Claas Global Sales GmbH has agreed to start the production of combine harvesters and tractors.

"Today, we are laying a strong foundation for lasting, positive changes that will benefit the citizens of both our countries. These initiatives will enhance key areas of cooperation and foster mutual understanding, contributing to the sustainable development of our bilateral relations. I am confident that our discussions today will enable us to explore all aspects of our partnership in greater depth and develop collaborative solutions to achieve our strategic objectives," said First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar.

Rustam Karagoishin, Chairman of the Board of Baiterek Holding, highlighted that today’s Kazakh-German negotiations mark a pivotal step in enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.

“The agreements signed today with leading German companies will unlock new opportunities for modernizing Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex and energy sector. These initiatives will introduce advanced technologies and create job opportunities. Baiterek Holding will actively participate in their implementation, providing financial support to ensure their successful execution,” stated Rustam Karagoishin.

During the visit, several important financial agreements were signed, including a framework agreement between Development Bank of Kazakhstan and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, as well as a partnership with KfW IPEX Bank to support investment initiatives. Additionally, memorandums were established with KazakhExport and Helaba Bank to enhance export lending, along with agreements with Deutsche Bank focused on export financing.

Sardor Kolmakhmedov, Director of the Finance Department of Structured Trade & Export, emphasized Helaba Bank's proactive role in financing investment projects between Germany and Kazakhstan.

“At the invitation of our Kazakh partners and in collaboration with export agencies, we have decided to sign a memorandum of cooperation with KazakhExport to strengthen our efforts in this area. This agreement will facilitate long-term project financing for German and European companies operating in Kazakhstan. KazakhExport is dedicated to advancing Kazakhstan's non-resource sectors, including the processing industry, infrastructure projects, and agriculture. Together with our Kazakh partners, we are also working to expand Kazakhstan's export opportunities into Central Asia and Europe,” he remarked.
