Kazakhstan to issue panda bonds to finance national projects

Rustam Karagoishin, Chairman of the Board of Baiterek National Management Holding, held discussions with representatives of China International Capital Corporation (CICC) to explore cooperation in financing projects through the issuance of panda bonds.

CICC was represented by Dr. Hanfeng Wang, Managing Director and Deputy Head of CICC International; Barry Chan, Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking in Hong Kong; Dr. Daming Cheng, Managing Director and Deputy Head of Fixed Income; along with other executives.

"China is a strategic partner, and we are eager to deepen our cooperation across various economic sectors. The potential issuance of panda bonds offers new opportunities to finance high-potential projects, and we believe there is tremendous scope for growth in this area," stated Rustam Karagoishin.

Baiterek Holding also noted that the selection process for projects eligible for panda bond financing is currently underway. Issuing these bonds is seen as a vital step in diversifying Kazakhstan's financial instruments and attracting international investment.
