Baiterek presented the results of supporting Kazakhstan's economy in 2024

‘Baiterek’ National Managing Holding JSC held a reporting meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee, dedicated to summarising the results of the holding and its subsidiaries for 2024. The meeting reviewed key indicators, including financial results, support for small and medium-sized businesses, the agro-industrial complex, housing construction development, as well as the implementation of investment policy, international cooperation, digitalisation, and customer satisfaction.

The holding company's net profit for 2024 amounted to KZT 416 billion, with assets reaching KZT 14.1 trillion and a return on assets (ROA) of 3%. Compared to 2023, profit increased by KZT 8 billion (+2%), and assets grew by 4%. As part of cost efficiency improvements, ‘Baiterek’ reduced operating costs by 5%, including through digitalisation. The introduction of new investment mechanisms and financing programmes ensured further growth of key indicators.

Development of Industry and Entrepreneurship

In 2024, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan financed 21 investment projects, 35 export operations, and provided 4 bank guarantees totalling KZT 1.46 trillion. 28 investment facilities were put into operation. In addition, more than 500 small and medium-sized businesses received financial support to modernise their production facilities.

"Financial support for businesses remains one of the key areas of the holding company's activities. We continue to introduce new support mechanisms aimed at expanding export potential and modernising domestic enterprises," said Zhandos Shaikhy, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board.

Support for the Agro-Industrial Complex

Agribusiness remains one of the holding company's priorities. In 2024, financing for the agro-industrial complex exceeded KZT 1 trillion, allowing 17,740 agricultural producers to receive support. As part of industry development, 43 investment projects worth KZT 14.7 billion were financed, and the modernisation of 16 previously launched projects was completed.

KZT 321.5 billion was allocated for spring field and harvesting works, enabling the cultivation of 6.6 million hectares of farmland. Additionally, KZT 100 billion was allocated for early financing of the 2025 sowing campaign.

Development of Housing Construction

‘Baiterek’ continues to be the main operator of housing construction programmes in Kazakhstan. In 2024, more than 70,000 families received affordable housing. Otbasy Bank issued mortgage loans to the population totalling KZT 1.3 trillion, compared to KZT 1.07 trillion in 2023.

Support for Exporters and the Non-Resource Sector

Total financing for export-oriented industries in 2024 exceeded KZT 1 trillion, 53% more than in 2023. The Development Bank of Kazakhstan allocated KZT 678.5 billion to support 35 exporters, while the Export Credit Agency provided insurance and financial support to 96 exporters for KZT 367.6 billion.

The key areas of investment were metallurgy (62%) and food processing (22%), contributing to increased export potential and reduced dependence on the raw materials sector.

“International co-operation plays a key role in the strategic development of the Holding. In 2024, we concluded more than 50 agreements with foreign partners, which enabled us to attract significant investments and strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the global market,” added Timur Onzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board.

At the end of the meeting, it was noted that ‘Baiterek’ continues to demonstrate stable growth and effective development of key areas. In 2025, the Holding plans to expand investment activities, support exporters, develop agribusiness, introduce new financial instruments, and continue digitalisation while attracting international partners.

The implementation of strategic objectives will enable ‘Baiterek’ to strengthen its position as a leading institution for the development of Kazakhstan's economy.
