- Who We Are
Astana hosted a National Forum on Corporate Governance, organized by the National Council on Corporate Governance in collaboration with the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and the Qazaq Independent Directors Association. Baiterek Holding's Deputy Chairman of the Board, Usen Galym, was among the event's key speakers. He shared the holding's corporate governance experience, underscoring the importance of high standards in transparency and accountability.
Usen Galym highlighted Baiterek Holding’s significant role in promoting sustainable development within Kazakhstan’s non-resource sectors. He stressed that the holding's commitment to transparency and accountability toward investors, stakeholders, and the broader society remains crucial to its mission.
“We aim to implement advanced international standards of corporate governance, with a current performance assessment of 98.8% compliance. Our focus remains on continuously enhancing corporate practices to build trust with all our stakeholders,” he noted.
Usen Galym also discussed the holding's efforts to strengthen corporate governance in alignment with its Corporate Governance Code. This year, Baiterek Holding introduced updated guidelines to renew the Board of Directors, increase gender diversity, and reinforce sustainable development principles. These initiatives reflect international standards, including guidelines from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for quasi-public enterprises.
The forum attracted leading experts, business leaders, and government officials to discuss critical challenges and future opportunities for corporate governance in Kazakhstan. Such gatherings are believed to enhance corporate culture and foster innovative, sustainable practices essential for long-term business success and economic growth in Kazakhstan.
