Baiterek Holding discuss cooperation with French Development Agency

On November 27, 2023, Nurbolat Aidapkelov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Baiterek Holding, convened a meeting with representatives of the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement, AFD). The primary agenda of the meeting revolved around the initiation of AFD's operations in Kazakhstan, with a specific focus on financing private projects that foster environmental and sustainable development in the region.

Having been active in Central Asia for over a decade, AFD has concentrated its efforts on supporting sustainable growth. Following the recent visit of the French President to Kazakhstan, an agreement was inked between AFD and the Ministry of National Economy to establish an AFD office in Kazakhstan. The key sectors of interest include renewable energy, urban development, efficient agriculture, and green transport.

– AFD has extensive experience in implementing investment projects, and we regard it highly as a prospective partner and investor. We are particularly keen on the development of the agro-industrial complex – this sector holds key importance for the economic growth and food security of the country, – stated Nurbolat Aidapkelov.

The meeting also focused on the development of the manufacturing sector. Botagoz Abisheva, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, provided insights into both implemented and promising projects aimed at establishing modern production complexes to enhance the country’s export potential and fortify the domestic market.

In its role in Kazakhstan, AFD is poised to contribute to economic diversification, alongside initiatives to improve health and education systems.
