Today in Moscow, within the framework of the First Eurasian Congress, an Agreement on investment cooperation was signed between JSC NMH Baiterek and the state development corporation VEB.RF. The heads of the institutes Aidar Arifkhanov and Igor Shuvalov acted as signers.
As A. Arifkhanov noted, the Baiterek holding is a reliable partner for investors in the Kazakhstani economy, whose success is possible only in the presence of favorable, open market conditions. Therefore, one of the main activities of the Holding is to establish mutually beneficial relations with international financial organizations, banks, investment funds and international companies.
- Today we signed an Agreement on investment cooperation with the state development corporation VEB.RF. As you know, VEB.RF is the largest state development institution, which has almost common goals and objectives with the Baiterek holding. The activities of each of us are aimed at contributing to the sustainable economic development of their countries. In the signed document, we have identified a broader and more effective implementation of the potential of financial and economic cooperation, covering almost all areas of our activities, - said the head of the Baiterek holding.
The Agreement envisages cooperation in the implementation of joint investment projects, interaction in the field of trade and export financing, as well as in the development of syndicated lending in Kazakhstan.
- Currently, we have fruitful cooperation in the development of syndicated lending in Kazakhstan. This is when lending to projects is carried out through the participation of several creditors with the determination of the amount of participation of each of them, separate obligations of creditors, decision-making by the majority or all creditors. As you know, VEB.RF has extensive experience in this area. Our Russian colleagues share their experience in organizing syndicated transactions, the peculiarities of the project financing factory, - emphasized Aidar Arifkhanov.
In turn, Igor Shuvalov stressed that cooperation with Kazakhstan is one of the priorities for the international agenda of VEB.RF, and Baiterek is a potential partner of the corporation in the republic.
- To date, we have delivered over 5.2 thousand units of railway equipment worth over 11.3 billion rubles to companies in Kazakhstan through a special leasing platform, as well as other equipment worth 0.75 billion rubles. Three more projects are under consideration: reconstruction of the state district power station, thermal power station, delivery of freight cars. The potential volume of participation of VEB.RF is about 20 billion rubles, - said Igor Shuvalov.
He also added that despite the pandemic, the VEB.RF team is exchanging experience with the Baiterek holding.
In addition, today, within the framework of the First Eurasian Congress, the subsidiary of the Holding JSC Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK) signed two strategically important documents - the Credit Agreement with the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), which provides for a credit line to DBK in the amount of 5.7 billion rubles, and the Memorandum of Cooperation between VEB.RF, EDB, Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus and DBK.
- I would like to note that the document signed with the EDB will make it possible to initiate a new direction of cooperation in the implementation of transactions in Russian rubles to finance projects within the priority areas of lending by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. Cooperation between DBK and VEB.RF has been going on for several years already, we are actively and fruitfully working through the SCO IBO, and are open to new opportunities for cooperation with the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the signed document, which will allow the parties to jointly consider financing investment projects implemented in the territory of presence of the parties and contributing to the development of integration between the EAEU countries, - noted the Chairman of the Board of DBK Abai Sarkulov.
Note that the First Eurasian Congress is held by the Eurasian Development Bank in the Moscow World Trade Center. The purpose of the Congress is to find and discuss practical solutions in the field of Eurasian economic integration. Within the framework of the congress, several panel discussions are planned on various aspects of Eurasian economic integration. Cross-cutting integration projects became the main topic of the joint section of the EDB and VEB.RF. The heads of major companies and national development banks took part in the discussion.
