Aidar Arifkhanov, Chairman of the Board of Baiterek NMH JSC, conducted a live broadcast, which was broadcast in official accounts on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

- Baiterek Holding was established seven years ago by Decree of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev. It was decided to combine the various development institutions that were previously managed by state bodies and their subordinate organizations. This was done in order to effectively manage and develop these institutions, to greatly facilitate decision-making, so that their support quickly and efficiently reaches customers. Today, the Holding employs 11 subsidiaries that support large, medium and small businesses, Kazakhstani exporters, provide affordable housing for the population, create a favorable environment for innovative companies, and develop an ecosystem of venture financing, ”the Chairman of the Management Board said in his opening speech.

In his opinion, today all the institutions under the Holding’s management have a stable financial condition, common standards of corporate governance, risks and HR. Moreover, some of them were taken from different government agencies with losses, poor management and without any clear-cut strategy for the future.

- Baiterek Holding is not only involved in management. At our level, we structure projects in priority sectors of the economy to provide support measures on a “package” basis. This means that one project, in accordance with its needs, can receive the support of several of our subsidiaries at once. Such projects have been and are being implemented in the sectors of the chemical, food, and metallurgical industries, as well as in mechanical engineering and electrical equipment. For example, this is the supply of locomotives of domestic production to Azerbaijan, the construction of the Makinsky poultry farm, the construction of the Saryarka gas pipeline, the construction of a plant for the production of sodium cyanide and others, Aidar Arifkhanov emphasized.

In addition, according to him, one of the Holding’s important priorities is to increase the share of non-state sources of borrowing in the overall borrowing structure, which should reach 80% by 2023.

- By attracting private funds and mixing them with budget funds, we can cover with affordable support even more projects of Kazakhstani businessmen. I note that the ratio of attracting investments in 1 tenge of the Holding since 2013 increased from 1.85 tenge to 3.12 tenge in 2019, or 1.7 times, ”Aidar Arifkhanov informed.

He also said that in many respects the Holding managed to achieve growth. According to the results of the audit, the assets of the Holding Group following the results of 2019 amounted to 5.2 trillion tenge, increasing by 10.5% over the year (assets at the end of 2018 - 4.7 trillion tenge), consolidated net profit for 2019 amounted to 51.5 billion tenge (for 2018 - 34.7 billion tenge).

In addition, the head of the Holding spoke in detail about each area of activity: supporting large, medium and small businesses, increasing export potential, ensuring financial affordability of housing, developing venture financing in the country.

Aidar Arifkhanov also answered questions that were received by e-mail and on the social network during the past week, as well as on questions from the audience during the “live broadcast”. In total, 15 questions were received to these contacts.
