On August 18, 2025, Baiterek National Managing Holding JSC hosted a cultural and educational creative meeting entitled “Abai Ruhaniyaty”, dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh educator, poet, and thinker Abai Kunanbayev.
The event was attended by Elmira Asan, Deputy Chairperson of the Language Policy Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as prominent Abai scholars – Zhandos Äubäkir, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Director of the Research Institute Abai Academy; Altynai Askarova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Head of the Humanitarian Research Coordination Department; and leading researcher Lyailya Demessinova. The speakers shared their views on the spiritual and aesthetic value of Abai’s heritage, its role in the education of youth, and the influence of the poet’s ideas on the development of Kazakhstani society.
During the meeting, employees of the Holding and its subsidiaries performed musical and poetic compositions from Abai’s creative legacy. Nurlytan Turaliyeva, a specialist of the West Kazakhstan branch of the Agrarian Credit Corporation, performed the song “Qarańǵy tünde taw qalǵyp”. The instrumental ensemble of the Damu Fund employees – Svetlana Nazaryuk, Medet Yerboluly, Ekaterina Maslova, and Daniyar Yeleuov – presented the composition “Kózimniń qarasy”. Kazakhstan Development Bank employees Bayan Kozhabaeva and Aruzhan Sayasatova recited the poem “Ólsem, ornym qara jer syz bolmaı ma”.
In addition, Berik Omar, Honored Artist of the Y. Rakhmadiyev State Academic Philharmonic, recipient of the “Yeren enbegi úshin” medal and an outstanding performer of the traditional genre, played the dombra and performed songs of the great poet.
“Abai is a spiritual mentor who awakens in a person a sense of honor, conscience, and kindness. Every line of his work is a call to humanity. Today, gathering around his immortal legacy, we once again touched upon the living source of our spirituality. If this meeting helped open hearts to kindness and reminded us of the values laid down by the great poet, then we have achieved our goal,” noted Niyaz Koshkimbayev, Managing Director of Baiterek National Managing Holding.
As part of the anniversary events dedicated to Abai’s 180th jubilee, a children’s drawing contest “Abai – khalyq qazynasy” (“Abai – the People’s Treasure”) was organized among the children of the Holding’s employees. At the ceremonial meeting, the winners were awarded by Dina Akrachkova, Head of the Executive Office of the Holding:
In conclusion, the participants emphasized that Abai’s spiritual heritage is an enduring value of Kazakhstani society, and that such events contribute to strengthening humanistic ideals and ensuring the continuity of spiritual traditions.
