Baiterek National Investment Holding Discusses Investment Cooperation with Malaysia’s MBI Selangor

On February 10, a meeting was held at Baiterek National Investment Holding with a delegation from the Malaysian company MBI Selangor. The parties discussed prospects for investment cooperation and opportunities for implementing joint projects in priority sectors of the economy.

Representing Baiterek National Investment Holding were Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Timur Onzhanov, Director of the International Cooperation Department Saken Olzhabayev, and Director of the Department of Agricultural and Housing Construction Programs Ruslan Tyulegenov.

The Malaysian delegation was headed by the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mohd Adli Abdullah. The negotiations were also attended by First Secretary of the Embassy of Malaysia Wan Shafawati Wan Mustafa; Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility Ng Sze Han; Political Adviser to the Selangor State Executive Council Muhammad Afik bin Aziz; and Group Chief Executive Officer of MBI Selangor Saipolyazan bin Mat Yusop.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for Malaysian participation in investment projects in Kazakhstan, including the possibility of financing strategic initiatives under the National Project “Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors,” where Baiterek National Investment Holding has been designated as the financial operator. The Malaysian holding company expressed its intention to establish close cooperation with Qazaqstan Investment Corporation, the Industry Development Fund, and to exchange expertise with Otbasy Bank JSC.

As a result of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to establish a legal framework for further cooperation and to organize a visit of the Holding’s delegation to the State of Selangor.

Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Timur Onzhanov informed the delegation about the Holding’s transformation into an investment holding company and the development of a unified investment attraction ecosystem providing comprehensive project evaluation, structuring, and support at all stages of implementation.

“As part of our investment transformation, the Holding is building a systematic model of engagement with international partners. We are interested in attracting strategic investors and are ready to offer transparent project structuring mechanisms, taking into account sector-specific features and the long-term development priorities of Kazakhstan’s economy,” he noted.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in continuing the dialogue and exploring specific areas of cooperation, including the possible participation of Malaysian companies in joint investment initiatives.

In addition, the Malaysian side invited the Holding to participate in the Selangor Business Summit, which will take place in October this year.
