Baiterek Holding supports the renovation of utility networks and energy infrastructure
Astana hosted the Power Trends 2026 forum, dedicated to the modernization of energy and utility infrastructure and opportunities for Kazakhstani businesses. Usen Galym, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, and Ruslan Tyulegenov, Managing Director, participated on behalf of the National Investment Holding Baiterek.
As the financial operator of the national project "Modernization of the energy and Utility Sectors", the Holding Company accompanies projects from the application to the provision of funds. Subsidiaries, commercial banks and international financial institutions are involved in this work.
"Our task is to ensure that the investment portfolio moves from the stage of applications and plans to specific financial solutions and project implementation. A suitable financing mechanism is being determined for each enterprise, taking into account the scale and specifics of the project," said Usen Galym.
346 applications for 885 billion tenge for 2026-2029 have been agreed on the electronic platform of the national project. Financing is carried out in stages, as the necessary procedures are completed. In 2026, projects worth 169.2 billion tenge were actually financed through the Kazakhstan Housing Company. Infrastructure upgrades are also generating demand for pipes, cables, transformers, and other domestically produced equipment.
"Each funded project is backed by new and upgraded networks, substations, accounting and management systems. For us, the key result lies in actually launched projects and the practical effect of modernization, improving the reliability and quality of energy supply for enterprises and the public," said the Deputy Head of the Holding.
The holding will continue to support projects for the transition from financial solutions to construction work. This work is aimed at updating worn-out infrastructure, improving the reliability of public services and creating opportunities for Kazakhstani manufacturers.
