A business roundtable with a delegation of German agribusiness representatives was held in Astana. Niyaz Koshkimbayev, Managing Director of Baiterek Holding, delivered a presentation on support instruments for the agro-industrial complex and opportunities for implementing joint projects with German companies.
The German delegation was headed by Martina Engelhardt-Kopf, Member of the German Bundestag and Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity of Germany. The meeting took place at CT Agro and was organized by the German Agribusiness Alliance, the German-Kazakh Agricultural Policy Dialogue and the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).
Participants discussed the needs of Kazakh agricultural producers, technological solutions to improve agricultural efficiency and prospects for bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the renewal of agricultural machinery, localization of equipment production, agricultural processing and the introduction of modern agricultural technologies.
Niyaz Koshkimbayev presented the financial instruments offered by Baiterek Holding's group of companies, which enable support for agricultural projects at various stages. These include lending, machinery leasing, guarantees and equity participation. He noted that cooperation with German manufacturers could develop through both equipment supplies and the establishment of production and service facilities in Kazakhstan.
“We are not a competitor to foreign investors, but rather a co-investor and a partner in sharing risks on the Kazakhstani side. I propose that the outcome of this roundtable be formalized not merely in minutes, but in a list of specific project initiatives with designated responsible representatives from both the Holding and our German partners,” he emphasized.
According to the data presented, in 2025, Agrarian Credit Corporation and KazAgroFinance allocated more than KZT 1.1 trillion to support the agro-industrial complex, representing a 36% increase compared to the previous year. The financing covered seasonal fieldwork, machinery acquisition, processing, livestock farming and investment projects. Over the past five years, 948 units of German agricultural machinery have been provided through leasing.
Promising areas of partnership include irrigated farming, product storage and processing, the development of dairy farms, feed production and digital solutions for livestock farming. The involvement of German technology companies in these projects will expand Kazakh farmers' access to modern equipment and increase agricultural productivity.
