Baiterek Holding Expands Investment Cooperation with Denmark

On April 27, Copenhagen (Denmark) hosted the Kazakh-Danish Business Roundtable, featuring representatives from government agencies, development institutions, and businesses of both countries. Timur Onzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of National Investment Holding Baiterek JSC, participated in the event as part of the Kazakh delegation led by Alibek Kuantyrov, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation also included Amangaliy Berdalin, Vice Minister of Agriculture; Azamat Panbayev, Chairman of the Industrial Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Construction; as well as representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Samruk-Kazyna Invest JSC, Kazakhstan Investment Development Fund (KIDF) Management Company Ltd, and other organizations. From the Danish side, participants included representatives from the Confederation of Danish Industry, the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), industry associations, and the business community.

During the roundtable, participants discussed practical issues of developing investment cooperation, including mechanisms for attracting financing, the implementation of joint projects, and the expansion of trade and economic ties. Special attention was paid to the instruments offered by EIFO—which combines the functions of an export credit agency and a development bank—including export transaction insurance, debt and equity financing, and support for projects involving foreign partners.

A significant emphasis was placed on the "green" agenda. Participants discussed prospects for cooperation in renewable energy, energy efficiency, water resource management, and the implementation of low-carbon technologies, drawing on the experience of the Danish platform State of Green.

Within the framework of the roundtable, Baiterek Holding presented its capabilities as a systemic investment institution that provides project structuring and financing in priority sectors of the economy.

"We see high potential for developing partnerships with Danish institutions and companies, particularly given their expertise in sustainable development and technological solutions. Baiterek Holding is ready to serve as a platform for structuring and financing joint projects aimed at economic modernization and the development of priority industries," noted Timur Onzhanov.

In addition to the roundtable, the Kazakh delegation held a meeting with representatives of leading Danish companies in the agribusiness sector, including DanBred (genetics and livestock breeding), FOSS (analytical equipment and solutions for the agri-food industry), Kongskilde Industries (agricultural processing equipment), Vilomix (feed solutions and premixes), VikingGenetics (breeding genetics), and Kurt Nisgaard ApS (agribusiness consulting).

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, the development of sustainable farming, deep processing of agricultural products, and increasing export potential. Particular focus was placed on Denmark's experience in selection and genetics, feed production, digitalization of agribusiness, and improving the efficiency of livestock and agro-processing.

During the visit, Holding representatives also held separate working meetings with the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark, the State of Green platform, and relevant organizations. As a result, mutual interest was confirmed in moving toward the practical development of joint investment projects involving the development institutions and businesses of Kazakhstan and Denmark.
