Baiterek Holding Discusses Prospects for Cooperation with German Partners in New Manufacturing and Project Financing

Chairman of the Management Board of National Investment Holding Baiterek Rustam Karagoishin held a series of meetings in Berlin with representatives of German companies — AKA bank, commodities company HMS Bergbau and chemical group LANXESS — as part of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to Germany.

The meetings were also attended by Timur Onzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Holding; Marat Yelibayev, Chairman of the Management Board of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan; and others.

During the discussions, the parties exchanged views on opportunities to develop processing industries in Kazakhstan, deep processing of raw materials and access to long-term financing. Rustam Karagoishin emphasized the Holding’s openness to dialogue and readiness to consider opportunities to support joint projects using available support instruments.

“For us, the development of modern production facilities and deep processing of raw materials in Kazakhstan remains a priority in our cooperation with German businesses. We see potential in combining the Holding’s financial instruments with the technologies and expertise of German companies. We are ready to consider opportunities to participate in promising projects as they are systematically developed,” he said.

During the meeting with HMS Bergbau, a German company specializing in international trade in mineral resources and mining, the parties exchanged views on an initiative to develop lithium deposits in East Kazakhstan Region. Possible approaches to organizing raw material processing in Kazakhstan were discussed. The Holding confirmed its readiness to consider potential participation in the project as it progresses, subject to applicable requirements and procedures.

Prospects for cooperation in the chemical industry were discussed with representatives of LANXESS, a major German producer of specialty chemicals. The parties considered the potential for cooperation in supplying Kazakh yellow phosphorus, as well as opportunities to establish chemical production facilities in Kazakhstan. Technological partnerships and financial support instruments that could be used as the initiative develops were also discussed.

At a meeting with AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft, a German bank specializing in export and trade financing, the parties discussed areas for further cooperation with the Holding’s subsidiaries. The bank confirmed its interest in continuing cooperation, including potential participation in syndicated lending together with international banks and consideration of increasing financing volumes. The parties also discussed prospects for supporting equipment purchases by Kazakh enterprises and developing leasing.

Cooperation with German partners is aimed at supporting the development of processing industries, modernizing enterprises and expanding Kazakh businesses’ access to long-term capital and advanced technologies.
