Baiterek Holding Discusses Investments in Deep Processing of Raw Materials in Kazakhstan with Chinese Partners

Baiterek Holding Discusses Investments in Deep Processing of Raw Materials in Kazakhstan with Chinese Partners

From 9 to 11 September, Jandos Shaikhy, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Baiterek Holding, as part of the Kazakhstan delegation led by Minister of Industry and Construction Yersayin Nagaspayev, is taking part in the China Mining 2026 International Conference and Exhibition in Tianjin, China, one of the largest international platforms for the mining industry.

The event brings together representatives of relevant ministries, leading mining and metallurgical companies, financial institutions, investors and technology providers from around the world to discuss industry cooperation and the implementation of joint investment projects.

In 2026, the conference and exhibition are held under the theme “Mutually Beneficial Cooperation, Green and Intelligent Development.” The business programme includes a ministerial forum, thematic sessions, presentations of countries’ investment opportunities and bilateral meetings. Key topics include the development of mineral resources, deep processing of raw materials, investment attraction and technological modernization of the industry. The exhibition showcases solutions for geological exploration, mineral processing, digitalization and automation of mining enterprises, as well as environmental technologies.

Gabbas Yerzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Qazaqstan Investment Corporation JSC, is also taking part in the conference.

For the Holding, participation in China Mining provides opportunities for direct negotiations with international investors and industrial partners on the implementation of projects in Kazakhstan. Particular focus is placed on attracting long-term capital, localizing processing facilities and introducing technologies that enable the production of high-value-added products.

The programme began with the opening of Kazakhstan’s national pavilion, which showcased the investment opportunities of the country’s mining and metallurgical complex. The pavilion served as a platform for discussions with foreign investors and industrial companies on prospects for implementing joint projects.

As part of the event, the Holding’s delegation held a series of meetings. In particular, during talks with the management of Zijin Mining Group (copper, gold and lithium mining), the parties discussed prospects for expanding the company’s investment activities in Kazakhstan, localizing production and deep processing of mineral raw materials.

At a meeting with China National Gold Group (gold and other non-ferrous metals mining and processing), the parties discussed the corporation’s potential participation in major gold-ore and copper-gold projects in Kazakhstan.

Jandos Shaikhy also took part in a meeting between Yersayin Nagaspayev and Liu Guohong, Minister of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China. The discussion covered cooperation in geology, mineral resource development, raw material processing and the introduction of modern industrial technologies.

Particular attention was paid to prospects for cooperation with CARL, a subsidiary of CATL operating in the extraction and processing of raw materials for the battery industry. The parties considered opportunities to implement deep-processing projects, produce battery components and develop energy storage systems. For Kazakhstan, these areas offer opportunities to build new production capabilities and integrate into international supply chains.

Kazakhstan is interested in projects that go beyond the extraction and export of raw materials and provide for their deep processing, the creation of full-cycle production facilities and the introduction of modern technologies. The Holding is ready to participate in structuring such projects and provide investors with the necessary financial instruments,” Jandos Shaikhy emphasized during the meeting.

The further programme of the visit includes Jandos Shaikhy’s participation in the “Kazakhstan Day” panel session dedicated to the investment potential of the country’s mining and metallurgical complex.

Talks are also scheduled with Aluminum Corporation of China (bauxite mining and aluminium production) on opportunities to localize processing facilities and the company’s participation in projects in Kazakhstan.

Financial mechanisms for cooperation will be the subject of a meeting with China International Capital Corporation, one of China’s leading investment banks. The parties intend to discuss the structuring of large capital-intensive projects and the attraction of Chinese institutional investors.

The Holding’s work at China Mining is aimed at expanding its network of partners capable of combining long-term capital, industrial technologies and experience in implementing large-scale projects. The priorities of Baiterek Holding remain the deep processing of domestic raw materials, localization of production, technology transfer and the creation of permanent jobs in Kazakhstan.
