Baiterek Holding discussed proposals on infrastructure projects with its Korean partners

On July 21, Timur Onzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Baiterek National Investment Holding JSC, held a meeting with representatives of RETD (Trinity Interworks), a South Korean company.

The parties discussed issues related to the development of transport infrastructure, including the NETSTREAM Maglev LRT project in the Almaty-Alatau direction, as well as possible financing mechanisms using the instruments of the Holding's subsidiaries, including the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and Qazaqstan Investment Corporation. In addition, initiatives were presented for the construction of a Korean-level university multidisciplinary hospital, a multifunctional hotel complex and the creation of a Kazakh-Korean co-financing platform for promising projects.

Timur Onzhanov noted that the Holding is interested in initiatives aimed at developing modern infrastructure, attracting investments and introducing advanced technologies. At the same time, he stressed that decisions on possible project support are made taking into account their economic efficiency, compliance with the strategic priorities of the Holding and the existing mechanisms of state support.

"Comprehensive infrastructure development requires modern financial instruments and effective cooperation between the state, development institutions and private investors. The holding is ready to consider projects with high potential for sustainable socio-economic development of the country," he said.

The RETD representatives also presented the concept of a cooperation platform providing for the phased preparation of projects in the field of transport infrastructure, healthcare and urban real estate. In addition, the company proposed to consider approaches to joint structuring of financing with the participation of Kazakh and Korean financial institutions.
