On June 29, a working meeting was held in Astana between Timur Onzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC National Investment Holding Baiterek, and a WILO AMEA delegation led by Regional CEO Jens Dallendörfer.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the modernization of utility infrastructure, the development of energy-efficient solutions, the localization of pumping equipment production, and the expansion of the export potential of products manufactured in Kazakhstan.
Opening the meeting, Timur Onzhanov noted that WILO has been successfully operating in Kazakhstan for over 20 years and is an example of effective industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.
"The development of local production and the implementation of modern engineering solutions are important conditions for increasing the sustainability of the Kazakh economy. We welcome WILO's commitment to expanding its presence in our country and are ready to support projects that contribute to the development of domestic industry, the modernization of public utility infrastructure, and the strengthening of Kazakhstan's export potential," he noted.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the National Project for the Modernization of the Energy and Public Utilities Sectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2025–2029.
"The national project to modernize the energy and utilities sectors opens up broad opportunities for the implementation of modern technological solutions in water supply, wastewater disposal, and heat supply. We are interested in attracting manufacturers willing to localize production in Kazakhstan and offer energy-efficient equipment that meets long-term infrastructure modernization objectives. I am confident that WILO's experience and expertise will be in demand in the implementation of projects within the framework of the International Energy and Utilities Sector Modernization Project," noted Ruslan Tyulegenov, Managing Director of Baiterek Research Institute JSC.
WILO AMEA Regional General Manager Jens Dallendoerfer presented the company's strategy for the region, which includes the development of local production for local markets. In this regard, the company is considering further expansion of production capacity in Kazakhstan, increasing localization, and establishing a supply chain involving domestic manufacturers.
Azat Dzhalairov, General Director of WILO Central Asia LLP, emphasized that the Almaty region facility is already a regional production and service center serving nine countries in Central Asia and the Caucasus, and the company views the region as a promising platform for further business development.
In turn, Baiterek Holding presented government support instruments available for the implementation of investment projects. In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of financing through the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, bond financing for infrastructure projects through the Kazakhstan Housing Company, insurance support for export deliveries through the Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan, as well as supplier support mechanisms and production localization with the participation of the Damu Fund and Qazaqstan Investment Corporation.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Housing Company JSC Olzhas Salykov presented information on the implementation of the National Project for the Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors, noting the potential for using WILO energy-efficient pumping equipment in utility infrastructure projects.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in continuing to work together to develop specific areas of cooperation, including projects to modernize utility infrastructure, develop local production, and expand the export capabilities of enterprises operating in Kazakhstan.
