"Baiterek" Holding and the Korean company YPP discussed green energy projects

Timur Onzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Baiterek National Investment Holding JSC, held a meeting with the President of the South Korean company YPP Co., Ltd. By Chunghwan Kim.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation in the implementation of investment projects in the field of renewable energy, decarbonization and the development of modern energy infrastructure.

We are talking about a project for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia in the East Kazakhstan region worth 2.0-2.2 billion US dollars. The project provides for the creation of renewable energy facilities with a capacity of about 1.14 GW, as well as the production of up to 55-75 thousand tons of green hydrogen and 310 thousand tons of green ammonia per year. A feasibility study is currently underway on the project, which is scheduled to be completed in September 2026.The meeting participants paid special attention to the issues of attracting investments, using modern technologies and the possible participation of development institutions in the implementation of infrastructure projects aimed at developing the low-carbon economy of Kazakhstan.

"Baiterek Holding considers the development of international cooperation as one of the key tools for attracting investments and introducing modern technologies into the economy of Kazakhstan. We are interested in jointly developing projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the country, and we are ready to consider the possibility of participating in initiatives with high investment and socio-economic potential," Timur Onzhanov.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing the partnership and agreed to continue working out possible areas of cooperation on promising investment projects.

YPP Co., Ltd. is a private Korean energy and engineering company founded in 1982, specializing in protection and management systems for electric power facilities, EPC projects for power plants and substations, renewable energy, as well as projects in the field of green hydrogen and ammonia. The company has been operating in Kazakhstan since 2023, has a branch in Almaty, and completed the construction of a substation for the Turkestan CCGT with a capacity of 1 GW in 2023.
