Baiterek Hackathon for the Development of a Unified Business Support Portal Held in Astana

On May 21, 2026, the first stage of Demo Day — the Baiterek Hackathon for the development of the Unified Business Support Portal (UBSP) — took place at the Astana Hub venue.

The event was attended by Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “National Managing Holding Baiterek” Rustam Karagoyshin, CEO of Astana Hub Magzhan Madiyev, as well as heads of the Holding’s subsidiary organizations.

The hackathon is being held within the framework of the Year of Digitalization announced by the Head of State. The Unified Business Support Portal under development will become a digital platform integrating the services of the Holding’s subsidiary organizations under a one-stop-shop principle. Its creation is aimed at increasing the accessibility of support measures for entrepreneurs, simplifying interaction between businesses and development institutions, and further integration with the eGov portal.

Chairman of the Management Board of Baiterek Holding Rustam Karagoyshin noted that the Holding is interested in involving Kazakhstani IT teams in the development of modern services for businesses.

“For us, the Baiterek Hackathon is an opportunity to identify promising digital solutions for the Holding’s ecosystem and support the development of the domestic IT market. We are interested in ensuring that services for entrepreneurs are as convenient, fast, and user-friendly as possible,” said Rustam Karagoyshin.

A total of 24 applications from across Kazakhstan were submitted to participate in the hackathon. Following a multi-stage selection process, which included the evaluation of technical solutions using artificial intelligence technologies, 9 IT teams advanced to the finals of the first stage.

During Demo Day, participants presented prototypes of the digital platform. The projects were evaluated by a jury consisting of the management of Baiterek Holding and chief executives of subsidiary organizations.

The second stage of the competition is planned to take place within a month in order to determine the final winner.

The Baiterek Hackathon became a continuation of the practical cooperation between Baiterek Holding and Astana Hub. Earlier, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation at the Digital Qazaqstan 2026 platform in Shymkent. The document is aimed at supporting technological entrepreneurship, developing IT exports, and expanding opportunities for Kazakhstani IT companies.
