A cheese factory with a capacity of over 40 thousand tons per year is being built in Konayev
The implementation of the project for the construction of the Sofood Kaz cheese factory was reviewed by the delegation of Baiterek Holding, headed by Managing Director Niyaz Koshkimbayev. During a working trip to Konayev, representatives of the Holding Company, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and the Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund visited the construction site and discussed technical and financing issues with the company.
The company is being established in the Almaty region to increase milk processing and the production of cheeses, including cream and hard cheeses. Its design capacity will be 40,920 tons of products per year. The initiator of the project, Sofood Kaz LLP, is a member of the international Solico Group, which operates in the food industry and has more than 15 production sites.
"The significance of this project goes beyond the construction of a separate plant. For domestic farmers, this is an additional milk market, new jobs for the region, and an increase in finished product output for the country. It is important that the development of processing is based on the local raw material base and allows Kazakhstani producers to strengthen their positions in both domestic and foreign markets," said Niyaz Koshkimbayev, Managing Director of the Holding.
During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the current state of construction. The facility is undergoing the installation of metal structures, roofing and other construction work. At the workshop, the parties discussed issues of further implementation of the project.
When the enterprise reaches full capacity, it will create additional demand for raw materials from domestic agricultural producers. The annual demand of the plant for raw milk is estimated at 91.7 thousand tons. It is planned to purchase it mainly in the Almaty region and the Zhetisu region.
The project provides for the creation of 400 permanent jobs. About half of the products are expected to be supplied to the domestic market, and up to 50% will be exported, including to Central Asian countries, Russia and Azerbaijan. The launch of the plant will help replace imported dairy products and expand exports of processed products from Kazakhstan.
