A meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev and a delegation of the World Bank was held in the Government, where further steps for the implementation of the National Project “Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors” were discussed, as well as the Bank’s participation in attracting foreign direct investments.
During the negotiations, the World Bank presented available lending instruments, financing conditions, and interest rates.
Baiterek National Managing Holding, together with the relevant government authorities, is finalizing the formation of a project pipeline for key sectors until 2029. The list of projects will be submitted to the World Bank for detailed review and approval.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in the water supply and wastewater management sector. A comprehensive analysis of major water utilities has been carried out, and a Roadmap for the development of water supply and wastewater services has been developed. The funds of the World Bank are planned to be directed toward the installation of hydraulic systems, automation, and digitalization of water utilities. The first World Bank loan–funded projects will be implemented in Astana, Aktau, Petropavlovsk, Taldykorgan, Saryagash, Tekeli, and Kosshy.
Further, the development of two additional Roadmaps is planned — for the modernization of reclamation systems and for thermal and energy systems.
At the end of the meeting, Kanat Bozumbayev expressed gratitude to the World Bank team for their willingness to actively participate in the modernization of strategically important infrastructure facilities of the country.
