A Kazakh delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar, and including Timur Onzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of ‘Baiterek’ National Managing Holding JSC, took part in the international economic forum Kazakhstan Investment Day 2025, held in Frankfurt am Main. The purpose of the event was to strengthen the investment dialogue and explore specific opportunities to expand economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.
In his remarks, Timur Onzhanov emphasized the role of ‘Baiterek’ Holding as Kazakhstan’s key financial institution, supporting the development of non-resource sectors and serving as a reliable partner for foreign investors. He highlighted the wide range of financial products and services the Holding offers to companies seeking to enter the Kazakh market.
“Today, Kazakhstan represents an attractive market with high potential for foreign investment. German companies consistently express strong interest in sectors such as manufacturing, chemicals, transport, and the agro-industrial complex. Particular attention is given to joint projects in the mining sector—including critical raw materials such as beryllium, titanium, niobium, and rare earth elements—as well as renewable energy (including green hydrogen), mechanical engineering, and logistics. We are confident that the potential of Kazakhstan’s market, reinforced by government support and the tools of the Holding, creates a favorable environment for the implementation of long-term and mutually beneficial initiatives,” said Timur Onzhanov.
The forum also featured the participation of representatives from ‘Baiterek’ Holding’s subsidiaries, such as Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC and Export Credit Agency of Kazakhstan JSC, who presented their financial tools and solutions designed to support investment projects and foster export development.
As part of the visit, Timur Onzhanov held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of leading German companies and financial institutions, including KfW, KfW IPEX-Bank, DZ Bank AG, KfW Research, Frankfurt Main Finance, and Deutsche Bank AG. The discussions focused on financing prospects for projects in Kazakhstan, expanding cooperation in the areas of structured finance and export credit, and exploring opportunities to attract German investments into key sectors of the Kazakh economy. German representatives expressed strong interest in expanding their presence in Kazakhstan and underscored the value of the support provided by the Holding.
In addition, Timur Onzhanov took part in the Kazakhstan–Bavaria roundtable in Munich, where he discussed ways to expand business cooperation with representatives of Bavarian business and industry.
The Kazakhstan Investment Day 2025 forum was organized with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the German Eastern Business Association and is aimed at strengthening economic ties between Kazakhstan and Germany.
