Askar Mamin Has Launched Textile Production in Shymkent

The Prime Minister Askar Mamin, has completed a field visit within ensuring the implementation of the programs such as the SPIID, the Economy of Simple Things, initiated by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Yelbasy, Nursultan Nazarbayev, as well as within the instructions of the Head of State Qassym-Zhomart Toqayev for socio-economic development of Shymkent and Turkestan Oblast, as reported by the press service of the Head of the Government

 

In Shymkent, the Head of the Government attended the opening ceremony of the spinning factory of “Alliance” Trade and Industrial Company LLP, which is a joint venture of the Investment Fund of Kazakhstan JSC (a subsidiary of “Baiterek” NMH JSC) and “Alliance Textile” Uzbek Association of Light Industry Enterprises.

 

The project was implemented under the agreements reached in June of the current year between the governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan for the establishment of a joint textile cluster. Through the efforts of the parties, repair and restoration works were carried out within a short time, and utilities were arranged which ensured the launch of the factory, which had been idle for many years.

 

- The First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Yelbasy, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev, set out the task for us to develop the “Economy of Simple Things”, where light industry plays a special role. And we can see the first results, - A. Mamin said.

 

The Prime Minister has expressed confidence that the launch of the factory will give a great impetus to the development of the textile cluster in Kazakhstan.

 

- The Head of State, Qassym-Zhomart Kemelevich Toqayev, has repeatedly noted the importance of attracting foreign investment in non-resource-based sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy. Considering the positive experience of Uzbekistan in the development of textile industry, an agreement on the joint launch of the textile cluster in Shymkent was signed at XVIII Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on June 22 of this year, - A. Mamin emphasized.

 

At the first stage, 120 new jobs were created at the enterprise; the capacity of cotton fiber processing will be 6 thousand tons per year. Investments of the Uzbek party in the project will reach about 4.6 billion tenge.

 

It is planned to additionally launch two factories within the Roadmap for Textile Cluster Restoration in Shymkent, which will ensure in the aggregate a 2-fold increase in the volume of cotton processed in Kazakhstan and create 800 new jobs.
