A Chess Tournament Has Been Held

Last weekend, Astana hosted a chess tournament among the employees of “Baiterek” Holding and its subsidiaries under the support of Darmen Sadvakassov Chess Academy. The competitions involved participation of 18 players, including candidates for the master of sports and degrees holders.

Traditionally, the Holding’s chess championship brings together a strong composition of players. This time the competitions was held in the format of a ten-minute blitz tournament based on the Swiss system. The persistent struggle was continued throughout all the seven rounds, and the winners were determined literally in the last seconds of the game.

As a result, the first three places went to the members of the experienced and solid team of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. The winner was Kuat Shomanov, the silver medalist was Adil Ismagambetov, the bronze holder was Asset Toleukhanov.
