Corporate secretaries of flagship national companies exchanged experience in Astana

Astana hosted the Forum of Corporate Secretaries, Kazinform reports.

The participants discussed how to ensure the sustainable development of companies in times of uncertainty. The event also focused on cybersecurity, information technology, risk management, and external factors that can lead to significant financial losses for companies and affect their shareholder value.

As the Forum's theme was "Disruptive risks and resilience", Ardak Zhumagaliyev, Deputy Corporate Secretary of Baiterek Holding, shared his view on the issue.

– Now more than ever, companies need a forward-thinking approach to risk management. Baiterek National Managing Holding is actively implementing principles of economic, environmental and social (ESG) goals for sustainable development in the long term, – said Ardak Zhumagaliyev.

The Holding, as a financial institution, pays special attention to responsible financing.

– Baiterek Holding supports green projects, and also successfully launches new green financing instruments, in particular, green bonds and social bonds. The holding intends to keep helping develop alternative energy sources in the future, – stated Ardak Zhumagaliyev.

According to him, Baiterek Holding has developed an environmental and social policy aimed at accounting for and monitoring ESG principles in the investment activities of the Holding and its subsidiaries. This document is expected to increase the potential positive environmental and social effects of the implementation of projects financed by the Holding's subsidiaries.

– I would like to limelight the efforts the Holding and its subsidiaries are making to introduce digitalization in business processes. So far, HR processes, document management, the financial unit, and administrative and economic activities have been digitized. Otbasy Bank has created full-fledged digital banks for individuals. The Kazakhstan Housing Company has launched the Housing Portal, where people can get information about all shared construction objects that have the appropriate permit or guarantee, – said the Holding's representative.
